Lefty Lacrosse-Week 6

My name is Camdyn and for my 20% project I was learning how to get better in my left hand when I play lacrosse. This week I didn’t do much. I practiced throwing one hundred throws against my rebounder and that went well. I mostly worked on my trifold because I was stressing a lot that I had to present the next week and all I had done was my throws chart. I had very little time to write my script and decorate my trifold so it could be ready to present on Wednesday. I brought it home Tuesday and worked on it all night. I was able to glue things onto it so it wasn’t just plain. I printed out my progress chart and glue it onto my board along with three photos of myself practicing in my backyard. One photo of me throwing the ball, one photo of the ball coming back to me, and the last photo of the ball landing into my stick. My successes this week was that I finished my trifold in time to present it and it didn’t look like it was rushed. And I also finished my script and practiced it a couple of times. I don’t necessarily think I had any fails this week. To me it was a pretty successful last week of the 20% project. I really enjoyed working on this and improving my skill.

My Favorite Memories This Year

I made so many great memories this year that I will take with me to eighth grade. Whether they were at lunch or in the classrooms I will always remember them and they will always have a place in my heart. One of my favorite memories were her in my core classroom. We had a sub so we decided to see how far we could pass Noah’s shoe around to everyone without the sub catching us. Let’s just say we did make much progress before we got caught. Another one of my memories this year was in yearbook. It just happened yesterday but it is something I will remember. Charlotte and I volunteered to go up somewhere really high sort of like an attic and clean it out for yearbook. There was rat poop everywhere up there and I kept on scaring Charlotte and telling her I saw the rat. It was really fun. We would get trash and throw it down to Emilia and Lilah telling them that there was poop on it. Most of the time there was. Another memorable moment I had this year was the other day at lunch. My friend and I were messing around and we were sitting on a ledge right in front of the big planter of wood chips that we are told to get out of yet people still run in them. Anyways, all of the sudden a chicken nugget flies in the air over from the boys table and hits my head and I fall into the wood chips. It was really funny because I knew who threw it but I won’t say names. My year was full of events and I will remember them forever!

Lefty lacrosse-20% project, Week 4

For my 20% project I am learning how to become good in my left hand when I play lacrosse. This week I had four games on Sunday. During my two games for my club team I scored a left handed goal. My two other games for my reck team I ran down the field while cradling in my left left hand. I also had practice for my reck team on Friday and the whole time I went in my left hand. One of my struggles is at my practice when I went in my left hand I just generally struggled. It was a little hard the run while I was holding it but I definitely feel like I’m getting more comfortable in it. My achievements this week were I am feeling a lot more comfortable in my left hand as I practice and I also am getting a lot better at catching. Not as much as throwing but I’m improving! Some of the adjustments I can make is placing my hands higher when I catch because doing that gives me more control over the ball and a better chance of catching it. Next week I will proceed to practice in my backyard and do everything in my left hand to improve. Overall, I have been noticing that practicing really does make you better and this project has really showed me that.

Happiness Amount

This photo is showing two different emotions. I think what the quote means is all people can be happy it just matters whether you like what your doing or not. Activities can justify your emotions very well. The kid on the right it looks like he has to clean his room and is sad about it. But if his room was clean he would probably be more happy about it that he doesn’t have to clean it. The kid on the right looks like he’s playing with a toy car outside. He looks like he is really enjoying himself and having fun playing. I can also see something else that could be happening in this photo. The kid on the left looks like he has too many toys that he can’t even move. But the kid on the right looks like he has just one toy and is enjoying it! The photo along with the quote is showing me that you don’t need a lot of things to make you happy. One or two things you can enjoy just as much and can make you just as happy!

Lacrosse Lefty-20% project, Week 5

Hi my name is Camdyn and for my 20% project I am working on getting better in my left hand when I play lacrosse. This week I had some success and some struggles. Some of the stuff I did this week was I practiced outside for around an hour and really focused on doing drills. One of the drills I did was I had one cone in front of my rebounder and I would just stand in front of it because it was a good distance away from the rebounder so I can have a bigger chance of catching it. I would throw it and quickly switch to my left hand and catch the ball. The guy on the video I watched on Friday said that drill can help with hand-eye coordination in your non dominant hand. Once I caught it in my left I would throw it back and switch to my right again. My successes this week were I learned a new drill and it really helped me. There were not many successes nor struggles. I didn’t really pick out any struggles I had this week which was very good. Next week I will pick up at the drill I was doing and keep on adding to my chart of lefty catches!

My Favorite Room

I have a lot of favorite rooms in my house. If I had to make a choice it would be my bedroom. My room has white walls with a very pretty wood background behind my bed that my dad made when I switched rooms with my little brother. I have a big closet with all my clothes in it and other junk that I just throw in there on the other side. I have a white dresser and a bed with white covers and orange/brown pillows. I have a very patterned rug that black and white as well as a gray couch. I like my room because that’s where I sleep. My bed is very comfortable and warm. I do all my homework on my couch or on my bed. When I am in a comfortable environment when I do my homework I tend to understand it more and really soak in what I’m learning. Another reason why I like my room is because it kind of my place to be by myself. I go into my room when I need a break from my brothers, mostly my little one but I still love him. I go into my room when I am stressed as well. I like to think of my room as my calm place. The last reason why I love my room is I have created a lot of memories in it with my friends and family. A lot of things have happened in my room such as me running into the wall one time, me sleep walking, throwing my phone on my bed and completely missing, and one time at night I turned my light off and ran and attempted to jump on my bed and I missed and hit the floor pretty hard. But overall, I love my room and I would never wish for a different one. I’ll see you next Wednesday!

Lacrosse lefty-20% project, Week 3

Hi, my name is Camdyn and for my 20% project I’m learning how to become dominant in my left hand and be as good as I am in my left like I am in my right. This week I researched tips on how to cradle well. I watched lot of videos and did a LOT of training in my backyard. One of the videos I watched was they set up two cones and they would run up, do a split dodge (A dodge when you get your stick and split it while switching and going into your other hand), and then running up to another cone and split dodging again coming back into your dominant hand, then fake at a goal, go around the crease, and finally shoot. The crease is a circle around the goal that nobody can enter except the goalie. Anyways, I did that same drill but with a rebounder instead of a goal because I don’t have a lacrosse goal. I did the drill for about an hour in my backyard and my arms got super tired. My fails this week were during the drill in my backyard I dropped the ball a pretty good amount of time so next time I will try my best to be better at it and even go slower than I usually do. My successes were I took a lot of time to really focus and I didn’t take a lot of breaks in between only if I had to go to the bathroom. Next time I will leave off at the same drill I was doing so I can improve.

Lefty Lacrosse-20% project,week 2

Hi my name is Camdyn, for my 20% project I am working on being comfortable in my left hand when I play lacrosse. During this week I faced some struggles as well as successes. This week my goal was to practice in my left so I can feel more comfortable every time I play with it. I was at a lacrosse tournament all weekend so I definitely got my practice in. My accomplishments were I scored a goal with my left hand which made me very proud. I also went into my left hand a lot when I was getting played defense on. One of my biggest struggles this week was keeping the ball in my stick when I cradle. I found it difficult to keep it in my stick when I am getting pressured by the other opponent. I can solve this by practicing in my backyard and doing drills I find online. I can feel myself already getting better and I will proceed to practice in my left next week. I’ll see you next week!

Dinner Invitations

If I could invite three people to dinner with me they would be Taylor Swift, my grandfather and One Direction. I would want to invite Taylor Swift because I feel like it would be a super fun dinner and she would interact well with the other people. I would love to ask her questions about how she came up with her songs and the inspiration. I would love to invite my grandpa because he passed away a couple years ago and he was and still is a very important person in my life and he always will be. I would want to catch up with him and just tell him everything that’s been going on lately and just fill him in. One Direction is a band of boys and they write amazing songs. They would be extremely fun to invite to dinner. I feel like they would bring so much joy and humor to everyone at the table and just get a laugh out of everyone. I would also love to ask them how they came up with their songs and the story behind all of them.

Left Hand Lacrosse-20% project,Week one

While working on my 20% project this week I faced some struggles as well as successes. During my class time on Friday I watched a lot of videos and worked on my hand-eye coordination with my left hand by having my friend throw the lacrosse ball at me and I catch it. While being at home I also worked on it! I have a lacrosse rebounder in my backyard that is a key part that I’ve used in the project that has helped me a lot already. In my backyard I worked on throwing the ball with my stick in my left hand. I threw the ball at the rebounder fifty times in my left. I recorded how many times I made a complete catch with my left and will be creating a chart for the presentation of my progress. I talked to my coach (my mentor) and he suggested that I do everything in my left. For example brushing my teeth, brushing my hair, and eating. He said this will naturally help build my left hand and with reaching my goal. The successes I had this week were being able to watch multiple videos on how I could improve in my left and make it stronger. A struggle I had was I had a hard time finding how I could improve during class. This will be different next week and I will have a strong plan on what I want to achieve during class work time. I left off at throwing the ball fifty times against the rebounder so next week I will carry on and progressively get up to one hundred throws.
